Venture Call (then under the Synergos Consulting brand) contracted with the Workforce Solutions Board to develop and facilitate a training program for CHOICES (TANF recipients) participants at the Abilene Workforce Center from July-October, 2015. This program was conducted in back to back 2-week cycles for a 12- week time frame. The class design included a total of 24 contact hours for Ice House Program facilitation over each 2-week session. The Ice House is a very effective “life-skills” program that can be incorporated into nearly any personal development programs. Additional components of the CHOICES TRAINING PROGRAM included guest speakers assisting the participants by explaining their own victories and challenges while dealing with life transition issues. This program incorporated “field trips” to onsite work location where the participants could interface with employees from numerous job disciplines.
